Developer Terms
Last updated: [PLACEHOLDER: date]
In short: You list AI software on Aisle for free and sell it through your own Stripe account. You are the seller; Aisle is the intermediary and never the seller. Aisle earns from plans, paid visibility, and a success fee only once you pass 10,000 € net revenue in a calendar year. Buyers get a 14-day no-questions refund, and you authorise Aisle to issue it on your Stripe account. Sponsored placements are always labelled, and organic ranking is not for sale.
These terms apply in addition to the general Terms of Use. They are written to meet the EU Platform-to-Business Regulation (EU) 2019/1150 ("P2B Regulation") and the Digital Services Act (EU) 2022/2065 ("DSA") [PLACEHOLDER: counsel to confirm scope and any small-enterprise exemptions].
1. Aisle's role: intermediary, never the seller
In short: the buyer pays you, not Aisle.
- Every sale through Aisle checkout is a contract between you and the buyer. You are the seller and merchant of record.
- Payments are Stripe Connect direct charges on your own connected Stripe account. The money lands in your Stripe balance; Stripe deducts its processing fees there. Aisle never receives or holds your sale proceeds.
- The only amount Aisle receives from a sale is the success fee described in section 4, collected by Stripe as an application fee on that payment.
- You also accept Stripe's terms for connected accounts (the Stripe Connected Account Agreement) during onboarding.
- As the seller you are responsible for: VAT and other taxes (Stripe Tax can help if you turn it on), invoices and receipts, consumer rights such as withdrawal and statutory warranty, support for your product, and the licence terms you offer. [PLACEHOLDER: counsel to confirm the allocation of seller obligations, including VAT treatment of marketplace sales under the EU VAT rules for electronically supplied services.]
- External listings ("Visit site") are sold on your own website; Aisle only links to it.
2. Listings
- AI software only. Every listing needs a complete AI declaration: the models used, the providers that run them, whether user data is sent to third parties, which data categories, and how long data is kept. Listings without AI functionality are rejected.
- Your listing must be accurate and kept up to date, including prices, platform requirements and limits.
- Seller information (DSA trader traceability): before your first product goes live you provide your name or company name, address, email, phone [PLACEHOLDER: confirm required fields], trade register details where applicable, and a self-certification that you only offer products that comply with EU law. This information is shown on your product pages.
- Downloads are scanned (malware, leaked secrets, dependency audit) before release; hosted products are checked for availability. Aisle may reject or remove listings that fail these checks or break the content rules [PLACEHOLDER: link to content rules].
3. Plans and product limits
| Plan | Products listed | Price | Monthly Aisle Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | 0 € | none |
| Maker | 5 | [PLACEHOLDER: price, e.g. 9 €/month] | 5 € |
| Pro | 10 | [PLACEHOLDER: price] | 10 € |
| Studio | unlimited | [PLACEHOLDER: price] | 25 € |
- Your first product is free and complete: checkout, SDK, reviews, launch page and credits included.
- Plans are billed by Aisle (Stripe Billing on Aisle's own account). If you downgrade or cancel, products above your new limit are set to "unlisted"; they are never deleted.
4. Success fee
In short: nothing until 10,000 € net revenue in a calendar year; after that 5 % (3 % on Pro and Studio).
- The success fee is 0 % while your net revenue through Aisle checkout in the current calendar year (UTC) is below 10,000 €. Net revenue means amounts paid excluding taxes, minus refunds.
- The check happens when each payment starts. The payment that takes you over the threshold is still fee-free; payments that start after you have reached the threshold carry the fee.
- The fee is 5 % of the net amount of each payment, or 3 % if you are on Pro or Studio. It is collected automatically by Stripe as an application fee on that payment, and refunded together with the payment if the buyer is refunded.
- For subscriptions, the fee is updated on active subscriptions once you cross the threshold. It is never charged retroactively.
- Your yearly total resets on 1 January.
- [PLACEHOLDER: invoicing of the success fee and VAT/reverse-charge treatment for developers in other EU countries.]
5. Refund mandate
In short: "Refund within 14 days, no questions asked." You authorise Aisle to refund your buyers on your Stripe account when a request meets the policy.
- Buyers who bought through Aisle checkout can request a refund within 14 days of purchase if the product was downloaded fewer than 3 times or the licence was activated fewer than 5 times, and the purchase was not refunded before. Details: refund policy.
- By accepting these terms (recorded as your refund-mandate acceptance) you authorise Aisle to issue such refunds on your behalf from your connected Stripe account. When Aisle issues a refund, its success fee on that payment is refunded too.
- If your Stripe balance can't cover a refund, it may become negative and Stripe recovers it from your next payouts or your bank account, under Stripe's terms.
- Requests outside the policy are yours to decide in your dashboard. Aisle may override in exceptional cases (for example fraud or a product that doesn't work as described); every override is logged.
- Disputes (chargebacks) are made against your account, because you are the merchant. Aisle sends you an evidence pack (licence logs, downloads, emails). If a product's dispute rate exceeds 0.75 %, Aisle reviews it; above 1.5 %, Aisle checkout is suspended for that product.
6. Paid visibility and advertising
In short: you can pay to be seen; it is always labelled and never changes your organic rank.
- Boosts (pay per click from Aisle Credits), Featured slots and the Launch Boost are advertising. Every sponsored placement shows the label "Sponsored" with a link explaining why the viewer sees it and who paid for it.
- Sponsored products are never shown in Aisle Match.
- Paid visibility never changes your organic rank score.
- Aisle Credits: 1 credit = 1 cent of boost budget. Credits are not money, cannot be paid out and expire after [PLACEHOLDER: expiry period]. You get credits with your plan and earn them through referrals, onboarding, verification and product updates; earned credits are capped at 200 € per month [PLACEHOLDER: confirm which credit types count towards the cap].
- Referral credits: when a buyer arrives through your personal link (
?via=yourhandle) and buys within 30 days, you receive credits worth 5 % of the net amount. Self-referrals don't count; refunded purchases reverse the credits. - [PLACEHOLDER: counsel to confirm advertising labelling under the DSA Art. 26, the Austrian ECG § 6 and UWG.]
7. Ranking (P2B Regulation, Art. 5)
In short: organic ranking is a published formula; money doesn't change it.
Organic ranking on Aisle (home, explore, category and search pages) uses a rank score:
rank_score = 0.40 × quality + 0.30 × engagement + 0.20 × freshness + 0.10 × referred_traffic
- Quality: Bayesian average rating, refund rate (lower is better), uptime for hosted products, how quickly you respond to reviews.
- Engagement: click-through rate on product cards, conversion from product page to checkout or external visit, return visits.
- Freshness: days since your last release or changelog entry, and how recently the product launched.
- Referred traffic: purchases and signups that arrive through your own
?via=link (30-day window). - Products sold through Aisle checkout get a small bonus because their reviews are verified purchases.
- Boosts and featured slots are never part of the rank score.
- Aisle Match ranks differently: an AI model picks the products whose listing data (use cases, audiences, integrations, AI declaration, price, rating) best fits the buyer's description. Sponsored products are excluded.
- The same description is published for buyers on /how-ranking-works [PLACEHOLDER: production URL].
8. Reviews
- Reviews are labelled by verification: Aisle purchase, SDK usage or external proof. You can reply publicly to every review.
- You may not buy, incentivise or write reviews for your own products, or pressure buyers to change reviews.
9. Moderation, suspension and complaints
- If Aisle restricts, suspends or removes a listing or your account, you get a statement of reasons (DSA Art. 17; P2B Art. 4) and can complain through the internal complaint system.
- Termination of all services to you requires [PLACEHOLDER: 30 days'] notice, except where the law, repeated violations or a serious breach allow immediate action.
- Complaint handling: [PLACEHOLDER: email or form, response time]. Mediators: [PLACEHOLDER: names of at least two mediators under P2B Art. 12, or confirmation that the small-enterprise exemption applies].
10. Data
- Aisle shares the buyer data you need to fulfil a sale (name, email, country, order details) with you. For that data you are an independent controller and need your own privacy notice.
- You can export your sales, buyers and analytics data from your dashboard. [PLACEHOLDER: P2B Art. 9 description of data access.]
- Where Aisle processes personal data on your behalf (for example licence validation through the Aisle SDK), [PLACEHOLDER: data processing agreement].
11. Liability, IP and warranties
[PLACEHOLDER: counsel to draft. Points: you warrant you have the rights to what you list, including model licences; you indemnify Aisle against claims about your product; Aisle's liability limits; Aisle's right to show your name, logo and screenshots to promote your listing.]
12. Changes and term
- Aisle notifies you of changes to these terms at least 15 days in advance (P2B Art. 3), unless a legal obligation requires a shorter period. You can end the agreement before the change takes effect.
- You can close your developer account at any time. Your products are delisted; buyers keep access to what they bought for [PLACEHOLDER: grace period], and licences then expire.
- [PLACEHOLDER: governing law and place of jurisdiction.]
